Nexamp Completes Open Loop Geothermal System in North Attleboro, MA
After a long winter of expensive heating bills, North Attleboro resident Kevin Schmitt contacted Nexamp in the early spring to determine if there was a more efficient way to heat his home. After discussing the benefits of geothermal heating and cooling with Nexamp’s geothermal expert Damien Morinon, Kevin decided to go ahead with a geothermal project.
Nexamp executed a complete HVAC retrofit for the two-story residence, converting a forced hot water baseboard heating system to a forced hot air geothermal heated system. “Not only will Kevin have an extremely efficient heating method when winter comes, geothermal systems also provide the added benefit of circulating cooler air to offer comfort on hot summer days,” said Morinon. A geothermal heat pump (GHP) provides affordable heating and cooling for your home and replaces a conventional HVAC system (most commonly, a furnace and air conditioner) by harnessing the earth’s constant moderate temperature. This particular system uses an open loop, which taps into ground water several hundred feet beneath the earth’s surface. The home stays approximately 70 degrees Farenheit all year.
The federal government provides a 30% tax credit to homeowners who install a geothermal heating and cooling system.
